This is so awesome. Our children are not honored as the most important thing in our lives -- sometimes I think we even forget. Everyone is important, but our beautiful kids (especially teens) don't get it unless we -- on purpose -- share it with them. Beautiful story. I'll pass it along!
How "new age" it is! This is a soapy presentation of "positive reinforcement" from psychiatry and sociology. Though positive, rewarding people before they exhibit behavior deserving reward removes initiative to really make a difference. It is better to say to others "you CAN make a difference" than "you make a difference" automatically because then "winning" the blue ribbon becomes a hollow and meaningless achievement. Its a medal for nothing. Handing out medals at random invalidates the behavior of those who really do make a difference. It's the same as telling everyone that they are artists, and awarding them for whatever they create. Art becomes mere therapy and self indulgence rather than the struggle to produce greatness and create work that is culturally uplifting. If everyone gets blue ribbon for doing nothing, how shall we reward those who work hard and are exceptional?
very mushy, sounds like you need a hug or something buddy, yeah this video has a point, but it's afer school special approach is more suited for a juvenile detention facility than an art forum, what's the deal?
Stan, thank you very much for sending that to me. It really made me think of how such a simple thing can have suge a huge effect. Take care and God bless
i always feel a little jaded by this kind of presentation - why need we be reminded to act toward each other with kindness, consideration, and love? brokencolor is right - pay it forward - also known as investing in a better karma. i know i can benefit from being reminded, and i have no doubt of the value of the film and its message. also, i appreciate the sentiment, stan. i think you know that people in this community care about you, too.
