Difference between acrylic and oil paints for creation of paintings.
Though these two materials also serve one purpose - to a paint as them of paintings - however properties of these paints absolutely different.
I had periods when I very much took a great interest acrylic in paints for a writing of paintingque paintings. It seemed to me that ideally and about an oil paint and to think it is possible to forget.
And that is why:
acrylic the paint quickly dries
has no characteristic smell
it is quickly washed off from hands
acrylic a paint it is possible (and it is necessary) to plant with water
and one more important feature acrylic - having put the necessary layer on a painting canvas it is possible to wait for a paint a little and it is possible to put repeatedly the following correcting layer (in oil paintings such to make it is rather problematic)
All seems remarkably and that else I am necessary for a happy life For comparison I will give an example two my pictures about one plan: one picture is written acrylic by a paint, other picture - oil. On my Gallery-site there are more detailed (increased) details of these paintings to look them it is possible here and here.
written by oil painting though and it is much more difficult to write paintings - but oil painting has obvious advantages in comparison with acrylic painting. Colours of oil painting brighter, much more sated
if to look at a painting at a short distance that a painting written acrylic a paint it seems simply flat. And dabs of oil painting (especially at creation of paintings with the help acrylic ) a volume, thick in thick and “generous” paint coat. It is easy for seeing in the description to any my picture on my Gallery-site (http://www.rybakow.com/gallerysale.html).
acrylic a paint “young enough” paint (it is invented and introduced in broad masses not so long ago) and creating your “masterpiece” nobody will give you guarantees as this acrylic a paint will lead herself in due course
And the oil paint for a writing of oil painting is checked up by centuries! But the oil paint for a writing of oil paintings on a canvas was not as though good - unfortunately it has in my opinion and lacks:
after the work termination …

Personally, I prefer acrylic paints. Number one, They don't have the awful smell of oil paints nor do you have to use toxic thinners and solvents with them. Number two, acrylics dry quickly and can be layered either in a "dark-to-light" or "light-to-dark" ratio. Number three, acrylics are ideal for the way I like to paint--I don't have to wait long for the paint to dry and I can see the picture progressing right in front of me. Number four, acrylic paints don't muddy very easily and aren't as fussy as water color, gouache, and tempera. Number five--I like to lay hands on the canvas/board after the paint has dried and I don't have to worry about the paint coming off on my hands or staining the surface I'm working on. I simply don't like using mediums which force me to "walk on eggshells", so to speak. Last and best of all, acrylics are water-soluable. For ease of use, accessibility, and a relatively inexpensive price, I'd go with acrylics over other painting mediums.

I love the smell of oil paint. I'm not crazy about painting with plastic. I have painted in various mediums. Oil is my medium of choice (illustration jobs are sometimes a different story, although there are techniques that can be used to have oil paintings ready for prep quick).
I am not saying one medium is superior to another. I tend to dislike either/or or vrs. topics. I checked out the links in the first post, perhaps he could do a follow up. Trying to keep this short, in comparison to the first post, which I found a little confusing, although I get the gist.

I love to work with acrylics if I'm making an energy full painting. Since they dry so quickly, you don't have to worry so much about layers.I do use oils sometimes, but only if I want to include alot of details.

i hate to burst so many bubbles out there but....
Acrylic is not arcival. it is always open. meaning it will collect dirt, dust, and what ever is in the atmoshere around it. when you or the buyer tries to have cleaned it it will simple whip away with cleaning products unless it is sealed... just like when anyone who gets something on our wall and you try and scrub it off knows some of the paint will come too.
if you dont believe me please contact a conservator, waiting around for someone to discover ways to clean it with its so many problematic concerns is irresposible for an artist.
painting with oil can be safe as well--- use nitrile gloves to project yourself from the heavy metals in the paints. use linseed oil or safflower oil in place of mineral spirits or turps.
throw away rages in a closed container everyday when you are done.
try using automotive hand cleaner such as "Goop" the white paste one not the orange citris cleaner to clean your brushes when you finished.
if you just have to use the toxic stuff; dilution is the key to dealling with polution, dilute with less toxic stuff like gamsol which has a third the toxicity of mineral spirits. you might also try spraying final varnishes outside with an appropriate mask on.
using oil any other toxic ways is irresponsible to yourself and our family, for confirmation just find an older artist who wasn't carefull in their youth and ask them about their health problems. Ultraviolet pulled me a side and in her french accent when she came to my studio," don't be a fool use gloves when you paint!"

Has anybody used H2oil paints, I have found them difficult to work with but the finish product is an oil painting except that you can use water to work with them if it wasn't for my allergies I would use oils, but lately I have been experimenting with h2oils. I found they are not as creamy and the texture from one color to the next vary greatly.
Live every day as if it was your last day on earth.
Have a great day,
Patsy
