Posted over 2 years ago A lot of them are plentiful, until someone asks for something specific. Otherwise I just draw something I feel good enough to finish and thats about it.

Posted over 2 years ago Normally I sit around for hours trying to come up with something, then come up with one small idea, then another till it spirals out of control, and I have 50 base ideas, and again no idea what to do.

Posted over 2 years ago Ideas are usually plentiful for me. I often feel swamped by the flow. Then I wrestle with picking one, then struggle to find the motivation and confidence to get started. then it's a trick of making them come out right within the parameters of my talent, materials and attention span. I'd say I don't do near as much as I could. I wish I had a local art crowd to have create-ins with.

Posted over 2 years ago I really think new ideas are all around. It all depends on what type of lens you have when you are walking around observing things. Dreams are an amazing influence, so are childhood memories, reality of course is huge, because without reality how could you distort it?

Posted over 2 years ago Totally depends. Ideas come when you least expect them. I always try to carry a pen and paper around just in case I need to write something down quick. I have like 2 years worth of stories to write and draw... And I have a notebook of quick ideas that I need to work on and develop into more substantial stories/illustrations... I guess something else I learned about this subject in college was... to be a professional, you need to be able to create on command/demand... you cant wait for inspiration, or for the moons to align. Tapping into one's creative juices needs to be practiced and worked on, its a skill like any other. And one should be able to produce good work even if they are having an "off day". And then when you DO have inspiration, you can produce amazing work.

Posted over 2 years ago My problem is getting to the ideas I have, I am currently working on two seperate pieces (I normally only work on one piece at a time, I don't like to get diverted), and creating the painting a day series (go to www.ebay.com and search 'Greig Leach'). I have also just started designing a theatrical production. I carry two different sizes of sketch books, and never go anywhere without a pen. I also work alot from memory, holding ideas in my head, refining them until I can get to them in the studio. See examples at www.greigleach.com

Posted over 2 years ago it depends on whether i feel like getting my draw on that day. I usually crank out a drawing to 3 drawings a week. This week I've put off doing a portrait of actress Emily Deschanel for far too long.

Posted about 1 month ago I find that it's easiest to keep a notebook or sketchbook full of ideas in the same way a writer may keep a notebook full of story seeds. Some of my best ideas come from when I'm hanging out with my friends. It's easy to talk to friends about even the weirdest things, and since a lot of my friends are artists, they always have a suggestion or addition to make to the base concept. Seeking Art Judge. Apply if qualified.

Posted about 1 month ago I don't carry a note book for either one; not writing not painting. Never have, to bulky if I think something is a great idea I make mental notes of what I like about if I the idea sticks then it is worth my time. At times i will actually take the object/subject (not live ones) home. As for the writing I actually will read stories that will trigger my memories. At times what i thought was a great idea was actually really, really bad so yes sometimes the well runs dry. Live every day as if it was your last day on earth. Have a great day, Patsy
