There are only two kinds of people, Beatles people, and Elvis people. You can be fans of both but you like one more that the other. which one are you? I am a Beatles person.

Can't stand Elvis, have to go with the Beetles, especially since the Man stole half his music from the blacks, and almost put a bullet through his baby girl's head cause he was too high on his meds, and the fact that he's a racist.. Beetle's way better tunes and lyrics and lots more intelligent

Beatles... Elvis has always sort of seemed like a parody of himself to me.

Hey you all!!!......... Without Elvis and his new style of music there would not have been a great band like the Beatles. He paved the way along with some other soloists in the 50`s, because it was mostly big band music and nothing for the younger generation, unlike today.......

this is true sanjoe, but he wasn't alone in this endeavor...there was fats domino, little richard, chubby checker, buddy holly, frankie avalon, the weavers and let's not forget who invented the electric guitar les paul, if not for him we wouldn't have track recorders....or other marvelous inventions, which i think was his biggest accomplishment, since i wasn't too found of his music.
okay just went down memory lane again....beatles were big like everyone else, i just think that there isn't a person alive that doesn't recognize them or Elvis...that should count for both of them...most people don't even know who les paul is....or was not sure if he is still alive or not...
i think every group donates what they have to the pot of sound, that's what makes this world so unbelievably rich with artists....may art and music continue forever...
peace...

I can't really compare and choose one over the other. :S I have respect for both. Both are gr8 in their own time n genre of music.

We are missing the point of the question. Jimifer asked which one we liked better, not which one is greater. I myself enjoy the music of The Beatles more.

If I might take the liberty of rephrasing the original question to be living or dead people, then it would follow that a great majority would prefer living and that all of us will eventually be both.
I find that an interesting variation.

I like the Beatles best.

Beatles. For me, Elvis was hard to understand, too much like parts of the past my generation had found stale, basically part Vegas and part an older style of country. It was hard for me to appreciate the Beach Boys for their backward, doowop roots, too, although I grew to appreciate them Brian Wilson got weirder and more symphonic. The Beatles, Stones, and others definitely had lots of roots in the previous generation, and it was exciting to see how many. Heck, the Beatles appeared on TV with covers like Twist and Shout, John like Dylan picks up the harmonica because of the blues, and Paul has that walking bass on All My Loving where George plays a tight rockabilly solo. I love the perfect cycle of fifths in the bridge to Buddy Holly's Everyday. But I'm still the next generation.
