Posted 28 days ago Crumb is a gifted and focused draftsman. His intimate connection to his craft , which started as a child , allowed him to elevate his comics to an art form. To say that the documentary Crumb made him famous is a misnomer. Some of the other artistic milestones that could have very well heralded Crumb to the world: The creation, editorializing, and contributions to the magazine Weirdo. One personal favorite being the adaptation of the Victorian clinical journal, Psychedelia Sexualis. Before Weirdo , Crumb collaborated with writer Harvey Pekar to illustrate the beginning of Pekar's autobiographical American Splendor. And we can't forget the trailblazing underground comic Zap Comics. So anyone of these salient events could be what catapulted Crumb to stardom. Also, I would be remiss if I didn't mention these pop culture icons that would most likely sicken Mr. Crumb. The illustration for Janis Joplin and Big Brother and the Holding Company's album Cheap Thrills, the slogan Keep On Truckin', and lastly the wise yet clueless Mr Natural. I'm looking forward to Crumb's Genesis and also that other personal project mentioned in the above article. Any chance to see new work from the master draftsman of comics is a chance worth taking.

Posted 28 days ago I think his work is cool. I love the illustrations I just don't like the subject. Wonder what he'd do with that other mythical creature- satan? College debt? http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=7704336701 Quote: (If) nothing can be created without something being destroyed then-what was destroyed to create heaven and Earth?

Posted 28 days ago I have friend that wrote and published a book of satire on regional language called Texas Crude . Ken knows R.Crumb and he did all the llustrations for his book and as usual they were excellent , Crumb is able to capture a personality visually very well .

Posted 28 days ago It didn't do much for me. I didn't find the drawings amazing nor entertaining. Live every day as if it was your last day on earth. Have a great day, Patsy

| Posted 28 days ago I'd like to vote on this, however, as I have not read the book, I cannot. I've no doubt the illistrations are excellent as usual from Mr Crumb. Given the subject matter, I won't waste my time reading it. The government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

Posted 27 days ago Never knew the guy , thats k. weavers friend from way back . I just have a copy of weavers book . Its a funny dictionary of Texas slang and sayings . Crumb did all the illustrations and if you don't live in the southwest it wouldnt be as funny , but he captured all the steriotyped Texans to the point where you say " Ive seen somebody just like that "

Posted 27 days ago Thats possible , he was in a band in the 60's called the Fuggs ( not sure it spelled right ) but it was an opener band for Joplin and Morison etc. then did odd jobs in Texas etc. Big guy , wouldn't want to get into a fight with him .He's whacked , funny as hell too , so you might very well know him .

Posted 20 days ago I know Crumb stuff isn't for everyone. My roomy/friend 2 years ago didn't like Crumbs stuff at all but his best friend did. They both agreed he was a great draftsman, but it all comes down to Crumbs subject matter and how he approaches things. I love his work and his subject matter doesn't make me squeemish like it does for other people. I also appreciate the fact that he was one of those indie illustrators back in the day that pushed trying different things and branching away from they typical comic book style. I have not read the book yet but I have seen the illustrations and they look excellent.
