You gotta have one style or nobody pays attention


This is a mantra I've heard for over the 30+ years that I've done commercial illustration work.

Granted, I work in smaller markets and I haven't had that problem.

In fact I've found it an asset to be able to do illustration in various formats, styles and techniques (visit my portfolio for a look).


My favorite is painterly, humorous and it has been a good niche for me for a long time, but I do 3d tech art and other varieties.

It's all digital, whether painting or anything else.


Opinions, experience along this theme?

I think, it is good to have a certain style that is your own so at a glance, people can recognize your work.  On the other hand, it's great to be flexible and be able to experiment with different styles.  It opens up many different opportunities.
