| Posted 4 months ago What turns me on is pure genious. For years I worked in the electronic engineering field in research and development I was an engineering technician. I worked with some truly inteligent people I was totally at awe with the creativity of some of the engineers whether they were test or design engineers. People don't think of engineers as being creative but they use numbers and science as their tools. I think this is the reason I stayed for so many years in the field instead of pursuing my dreams.

| Posted 4 months ago The thing that really trips my trigger is playing music with other musicians. I doesn't matter if it's on a stage or around a kitchen table, as long as everyone can find a part and keep up, it's awesome. I especially like playing with people who are almost as good, just as good or better than me. It's a blast to play a solo then step back while somebody else runs with it, then they step back and somebody else starts in-- round and round, each one trying to out do the other and themselves. Works with any style of music from bluegrass to jazz. Like the old timers say, "It's the most fun you can have with your pants on." |

It seems to me that this is an easy thread to answer .And as for being patient , yes after teaching 34+ years as an art teacher I have polished that one to a "T" . It seems threads get buried so easily that I was hoping to read some more responses before that happened to mine again. |

| Posted 4 months ago I'm a little hesitant to respond to this question as I believe most any thing I "do" is artful. But I like that fact that the question has been posed; I like to question most everything. Sometimes for instance when I'm driving my car it feels like an artistic event. For now I'll say I like to work out (mostly cardio); when I'm in that mode I sort of clear my head and move forward. If the foot of the trees were not tied to the earth, they would be pursuing me.. For I have blossomed so much, I am the envy of the gardens. Rumi |

I'm an avid sports fan, especially college basketball & football. I spend most of my extra time taking or editing photos, but I also like to explore out and away places, with covered bridges and old mills from the 1800's. I like to cook outside with our grill and have friends and family over. The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be. |

| Posted 4 months ago Other things that turn me on are creative cooking, I loved dancing when I was able to and I danced it didn't matter where I was. I also used to love to hike but this days I am restricted to no more then a mile, no uphills, no jumping or lunging or anything that might precipitate an early knee replacement. They are hoping that I can make three more years before I have to go through the replacement. Ideally they were hoping for 10 years from now, but I even wonder if I'll be able to make to three. Anyways, I have to redirect myself to discover new and exciting ideas once the things that turned me on were left behind to memory, Who wants to die in a perfect body anyways, so far I had a blast in the process of shredding my body. | Posted 4 months ago Besides my art and writing, I dedicate myself to the betterment of developementally disabled children. I am a community specialist for the State of California's Early Start program. We design and implement therapy programs for children ages 0-3. These can be any type of program whether it be Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Socialization therapies. I got into this line of work because my top passion, my son Aidan, was born with autism. He benefitted greatly from Early Start. I wanted to return the favor so I dedicated myself tot he program and was lucky enough to get a paying job in it last year. It's great to see the wee ones with cerebal palsy. hearing loss, mental retardation and autism get a better start and quality of life because of our programs. Have you seen the roses? There's a whole lot of colours!

| Posted 4 months ago I’ve always loved my “art stuff” and I always will, but what really turns me on is people. My life has been rather sheltered up until a few years ago and now that it’s not, I can’t imagine feeling better than I do now. Well I can, but let’s just say that I’m happy with the way things are. :-) I met a man who had no smile ... so I gave him one. :-) |

| Posted 4 months ago Most of my time is taken up with art or art related activities (including a little part time teaching). However, I used to say one of my favorite 3 things to do was snow skiing (mainly downhill). Also enjoy backpacking and camping (which often involves painting), fishing, and tennis. When I have time, I like to read a book on my back porch, and watch finches at feed bags I have hanging, and other birds pecking around or using the bird bath. I like that the Feather River is only a block away (as well as a Chinese Temple) and I can go there to see activity also. Used to like using my x-box, but have been away from that for a year. When I have a chance I also like to travel, including visiting urban areas where I often see art exhibits, and go back to old haunts and catch up with friends I meet in university. Like being back at the ocean.

Hello Sandy. Very interesting topic! Thank you. I was into art as a child, but just recently got back into it. I graduated high school and just found any job I could do to survive. I did that for 20 years. When unable to find work, do to physical limitations, I decided to go back to my first love, art so I received my degree in graphic design. Unable to find work in this area, I am just doing it for fun and some freelance. Another love of mine is nature. Nature quiets my soul and centers me. I have always had a connection with nature. I am also very much interested in the inner working of the human mind. So I am going back to school to study Psychology. This field fascinates me. Hopefully the economy will perk up when I look for jobs in this field a couple of years from now. I am not replacing art just incorporating it. Maybe someday I will be able to combine art and counseling to help lost souls find an appreciation for art and a passion for life, Faye

I'm for this in a big way and sadly ( probably my own fault ) experience very little of it around my area. Perhaps to put a finer point on it good discussion per se on any topic that is open to frank introspective exchange. Let's be honest, most of us hold back our deeper thoughts and may be in general that's a wise and cautious thing to do but eventually if we don't break the habit we loose the ability to be direct. |

| Posted 4 months ago Dance is my passion. It makes my spirit soar and time stands still and passes unnoticed at the same time. Other things that turn me on is becoming debt free, working out, and developing my speaking and leadership skills through Toastmasters. | Posted 4 months ago Oh, and I almost forgot ... actually I did, till I just went to play one of my games. I'm not a gamer but a few years ago I got bored and went lookin' for some video games on line. I found Quake III Arena and thought is was pretty cool. About two years ago I found Descent III which is possibly the coolest first person shooter on the planet!. I also have a blast playin' Ricochet Infinity - a break out game with 216 levels and totally awesome graphics and sound. You can also go on line and play a bazillion more levels. Cool!!! I met a man who had no smile ... so I gave him one. :-) |

I agree with Lilly on this as well especially the working out aspect of things. It also allows me to clear my head of the garbage and stress that taints this world and solely concentrate on things of simplistic nature and form. |

| Posted 4 months ago I will agree with the witty conversation part, jointhecircus. I have plenty on here with my friends and as well on threads that I have created before this account. lol Though the "powers that be" here don't really like stimulating conversations. They aren't big comedy fans either, though they don't exactly seem to understand most of what I have posted in the past, which makes it all the more fun to get everyone ELSE laughing and them giving a dumbfounded "Bush" moment look. I like doing things to prove I can. I love pushing boundries and seeing what I can get away with. Just watch me play video games. I will do whatever it takes to do something on a game that was not intended, lol. Just ask my fiance! Though if you ask her about Grand THeft Auto on my Playstatiion she may tell you to stay out of the car with me..or boat, or airplane, or helicoptor...or basically just stay off the road and in your bomb shelter! I love playing the old retro games too! Bring on some MArio or better yet some TETRIS and Breakout! That reminds me. When I get DSL I need to hook my computer up and download the PC version of MAELSTROM..super cool updated graphics version of ASTEROIDS! Still trying to see if I can find a version of the original Wolfenstein 3D thats compatible with current PCs. I also love to cook. Haven't done that in a while. Been kinda in a slump and not in the mood to cook. I like to write poetry and working on some book ideas. (need to get back into that) The Anti-Christ will rise when the seed of a Virgin is loosed upon the earth during the Third Harvest Moon of the Third month of the third year upon its reaching of puberty. |

| Posted 4 months ago I do love to talk. I ride my bike, play with my dog and love to eat and drink. I'm an Artist / Architect by nature and fate. I prefer the Bon-Vivant role when I'm not doing my Art thing. I like to entertain friends, as we did Sunday for my wife's cookbook brunch. She's writing a cookbook and needs to prepare the food in quantities for 6 or 8 people so we can get get good photos for the book, It's a blast having friends over to eat. |

| Posted 4 months ago I like the beach (have quite the collection of sea shells), spending waaaay to much time playing Guitar Hero and like to make fun of Sarah Palin at every opportunity. (She is the gift that keeps on giving...) Also write screenplays, taking care of my young' uns, the two dogs and like going out to eat with my lovely wife when the occasion presents itself (Steak & Shake is a current favorite). Also like action movies, zombies and heavy metal. Not a car guy, although I wish I was...It would be cool to restore an old mustang or something like that... Chicken Foot Rocks. |

and with the right computer, plenty of memory, a good graphic card and monitor will make a big and enjoyable difference. "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain." |
