Posted 4 months ago I've just got the opportunity to get into vehicle wrap. Can anyone tell me where I might learn about the specifics of vehicle wrap? How large of a resolution does the photography need to be? How do you create the file in order to fit the vehicle? |

| Posted 4 months ago I'm working on a t-shirt design based on a race car wrap created by skinzwraps. Maybe they could answer some of your questions. There's no need to mention me, as I doubt they know who I am. The t-shirt work is for the people who own the car. |

| Posted 4 months ago Thank you, but what I really need are the details on how they create the file dimensions, so that when they print out the vinyl, it fits the car that it is applied to. |

| Posted 4 months ago This brings to mind creating large outside graphics projects which scaled grids can be used to make sure the illustration will fit in the selected space. It also is like designing packaging where you lay out the material flat and begin drawing the roof, front back and side windows, hood, trunk, trunk deck, side doors and finally the grill leaving extra material for the over hangs around the bottom of the vehicle. the Scaled grid will keep the proportions correct. As for how large a file this would be depends on the resolution. My guess here is like around 72-100 dpi. I hope I didn't oversimplify this but it just seemed a good way to approach the project. |

| Posted 3 months ago Thank you for sharing your information. From what I gather, they use 720dpi at 10% and RIP to 72 dpi 1000%. All the work would be done in Photoshop. Are their templates usually accurate? How do they sell their templates? How does it work if you should want to design some vector art? Do you rasterize it and drop that into Photoshop? I've also been recommended to use digital design ware. They use Illustrator at 5%. I've also been recommended digital auto. Are you keeping busy with the vehicle wrap business? Janet

| Posted 3 months ago I use digital auto library for all my wraps. The templates are accurate. The program is on the expensive side but worth it. We never go below 150 DPi at 100%. I usually give our installers about an extra 4 inches of design to work around the vehicles fenders, door gaps and various contours. I design in Illustrator as well. |
