I think I do art more because I like it or because I feel the need to design, of course you as an artist would want to gain money because we all know that art supplies are sometimes expensive, no matter where you go or the store you pick or the promos, art supplies are always at some point expensive. So I think I do art believing I’ll get paid someday, I do drawing (pin-up) and some people likes my style so what I do is make it affordable to what most artist do it. I guess I went out of the topic but I think we do art because we love to do it. "Dont limit yourself"

Posted 4 months ago I didn't take Art in college just to make money. In fact at the time many felt artist like Peter Max sold out. I guess I would rather be a poor unknown artist than some rich opportunist. I don't really understand the need and drive I have. I'm just along for the ride. And the life I've been given and the time that passes each day, seems the more I try to hang on the more it slips away.

Posted 4 months ago I think my art is very therapeutic. In fact, I think I mentioned to someone recently that my form of aromatherapy is linseed oil and turpentine. It stimulates the senses and inspires me to create something. One day I will get the courage to step into a gallery and show them my stuff, not so much to sell but rather to show. Or one day I will have cleared my credit card and have somebody design a website for me so I can display my art and possibly sell it. In the meantime, I will create my art as I deal with the many stress factors that have plagued me. So far that is working just fine...now if I could just win the PCH sweepstakes so I can stock up on supplies--have you seen the price of paint thinner lately?

Therapeutic? Yes. Check out this work by Jeanne Claude Christo. I really didn't understand this until I saw the video. The community residents were allowed to keep the fabric after it was taken down. The made clothing, drapes and other things out of it. They fell in love with it

Posted 2 months ago Therapy through art is vital for me these days. It reduces stress, and helps me to forget my problems! And I think because of the recession, we all have more problems than we can handle! If art wasn't therapeutic, I would probably do a lot less art! Money really isn't the issue here. The number of times someone has paid me for my art I can count on one hand. I'd love to have an artistic job someday, but for now, it isn't in the cards.

Posted 2 months ago Art is beauiful. It is peace. It is very theraputic to create. I love to create. The older I get, my need to create becomes so strong. When I am getting dressed, I create with my hair and clothing. I try to stay conservative in appearance, but their is this huge creative serge that I am having that is recreating me! I feel myself surrending to it and I feel like the real me is submerging. I am finding such peace with doing art again. I had been so distracted for so many years with obligations and responsibilities. I was just half a person then. To be able to create and do art is making me complete again. It is really very exciting. My art really surprises me. I believe that when I understand my art and become one with it again, I will once again become complete. In this journey I am so happy to realize that it is a special gift that most of us just take for granted. But it is a vital part of our expression that we cannot keep bottled inside, it must come out and when it does we feel satisfaction, peace and tranquility and our creation makes life more interesting and beautiful for all those around us. mirella

Posted 2 months ago I created because I have too, in some way, shape or form I need to create something. For TerriG53, you can get a Facebook page for free and put pictures of your art online. I sold two paintings that way and I wasn't even trying!

Posted 2 months ago therapy is a strange word to use for art I believe ... it might be used by a psycologist I suppose when it's subject is directed toward art to get out some deep seeded feeling and help the subject to arrive at a better understanding of his or her world or the psyc's understanding of the problem ... I am disterbed to say the least but do not need it to understand myself as much as therapy for the viewer perhaps ... Money isn't the driving force either in most of it ... I just want to show others a different view of the world that they think they know, the one I am always looking for myself ... the act of painting or photographing is pleasurable and most times relaxing and in that I guess it could be thought of as theraputic though it is usually the idea itself that makes me want to express myself in this manner or than not the need to relax . HMMM ... I guess I need a shrink HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Hap

Posted about 1 month ago People tell me I should sell my art. Make money out of my talent, but what they don't understand. I first started painting it was to keep my sanity, a coping mechanism, in able to love my children and not hurt them. It is very difficult for me to think of parting with my art; it is part of me. Live every day as if it was your last day on earth. Have a great day, Patsy
