| Posted 8 months ago The Rockies. Beautiful mountains standing tall, protecting the prairies. You feel minuscule when near them, yet you feel like you're on top of the world when you're on them. If you want to discover other inspiring places and talk to fellow travellers, visit http://us.buuuz.com and hear it from the horse's mouth. It's a new social networkign site that allows you to meet new friends based on common interests. PRetty neat and it's free. I also like the Atlantic ocean.... Waves crushing on rocks... Violent and calm... find work and meet artists on http://us.buuuz.com |

| Posted 8 months ago New York has some places. It's mostly urban but the inside of malls sometimes look like castles! Prospect Park is nice and so is the Botanical Gardens scattered throughout the state. I suppose the inspiration mostly comes from seeing something that relates to what we like. But really, you can find it anywhere. Everything is capable of giving you an idea. That counts as inspiration too (right?) Though for drawing, music and other art as well as even the weather are good objects of inspiration. |

| Posted 7 months ago Mmm... lots of bathrooms. :O I saw the Botanical Gardens in DC and I loved them! I thought they were so neat... mostly because it was cold outside and warm inside, haha. But I would love to go there someday with my laptop and clickity click away with it! http://www.kagaipalace.com

| Posted 7 months ago I used to fly on business 40+ weeks a year. Most of the travel was international. I can't tell you why exactly, but South Africa has had a tremendous influence on me. Parts of the Carribean as well. DAN BOOS VISUAL ARTIST |

| Posted 7 months ago Venice for sure... I've never been there but I hear it is spectacular. However, I also hear that if you're not there for serious tourist purposes, it might be a little dreary. That and I watched some discovery chanel special on how Venice was sinking. Who knows. South Africa sounds really inspiring... I mean just the reality of all that fancy stuff right next to the old townships, and then 100 miles out there's the bush... I'd like to go someday. http://www.kagaipalace.com

| Posted 7 months ago in my neck of the woods, I tend to go to places like Phipps Conservatory or I'll go down to the Point (which is the part of land that juts out to where the three rivers meet in Pittsburgh. Also, about an hour south of Pittsburgh is an area called Ohiopyle where I tend to go, and another hour from there is a place in Maryland called Deep Creek and Muddy Creek Falls. Those are places I tend to go to when I need to get inspired. I'm not insane. I'm a visionary. |

| Posted 5 months ago Many places have inspired me, including galleries and museums in California and other parts of the world. One aspect of my work is landscape painting. I like going on site. Sometimes its was a short walk to the ocean when I lived in Santa Cruz, other times it could be a camping trip in a desert hundreds of miles away, or a Summer I spent in Florence as an art history student. One place of many that inspired me took a bit of walking and crawling under fences. It was on top of a hill in the Almaden area of San Jose. It had interesting trees, indian caves and rock formations and some big and intimate views. It was isolated and the city felt far away. I went there several times to work on paintings. Here are two paintings from there: Other inspirations have come from more pedestrian areas or objects like neighborhoods or signs. |

| Posted 5 months ago An old painting professor of mine, Michael Rich, would say go some place you've never been before. Even if it's just fify miles away-- a new evironment can really have an influence on what we bring forward. I can't just produce all the time. I have to take something in. If the foot of the trees were not tied to the earth, they would be pursuing me.. For I have blossomed so much, I am the envy of the gardens. Rumi |
