A good logo is the "eye catcher" to lure someone to your work or company.

The same applies for our avatars on this site as well as others.  The more eye catching the more likely someone will look at your work.

Just look at comic book heroes and villians.  What is THE MOST IMPORTANT thing included on almost every character?  Their logo.  Even though I don't like Superman comics you have to admit that bold red and yellow "S" logo makes you look at it.  The logo is what helps SELL the character.  This applies to company and design work as well.  The logo is the first impression.  Make it GOOD!

I have an itchy middle finger and I am not afraid to use it!

A logo is more than just an "eye catcher". It should communicate the meaning and value of a company.

I'd say that's pretty important.

I agree with T Smith a good logo and tagline should tell all about a company.

A good logo is very important.  It becomes part of  your companies identity.   It will help people recognize you.  It should be representative of  your company (or yourself).

I have to say,  the logo should be something that money is spent on.  One of the biggest mistakes that some start-up small businesses do, is skimp on the logo. Some of these $50-$99 logo sites wont be able to properly create a logo that represents your company, not to mention that they recycle logos... I've seen it happen sadly...  (Same logo, 2 different companies,  2 towns apart.  I found out both purchased from cheap logo sites)

Getting a good logo will be money well spent.
