Although I'm just learning this program, it is the closest I've ever come to actually create works on screen that resemble what I would create with non-digital tools. Beginners can get a good result and those that delve a little deeper can acheive great results.

i really like this program. i use it to trun my photographs into something non-tradtional. it is fun and easy.

Paint Shop Pro X - New functions

4. Makeover Tools: Paint Shop Pro X introduces a powerful new collection of extreme Makeover Tools to help users quickly and easily retouch the subjects in their photos. The Makeover Tools include the Blemish Fixer, Toothbrush and Suntan Brush.
5. Object Remover: The new Object Remover lets users seamlessly eliminate unwanted elements from photos, intelligently filling in the resulting gaps with appropriate background detail.
6. Special Effects for Black & White Photos: With the new Special Effects filters in Paint Shop Pro X, users can now easily convert images to simulated black and white infrared or apply color filters while converting to black and white images.
7. Corel Photo Album 6 - Standard Edition: Included for the first time with Paint Shop Pro X, Corel Photo Album 6 provides efficient organization, sharing and photo backup options, along with hundreds of new drag-and-drop creative project templates.

Good effects, but clunky and buggy with funky file formats that Photoshop can't read.

This product is awesome I used it in my art class and it proved to be just an absolute must have.

I use this program quite often when I want to "paint" in digital. The ability to retain my "brush strokes" gives me the ability to retain a painterly feel to my digital work. It works VERY well with my Wacom Intuis3 digital tablet.

Still in the learning process with this product. I like what I've been able to do as far as turning ordinary photos into something a little more interesting. Becomming familiar with all the nuances of what Paint Shop Pro X can do is an ongoing process, but I'm enjoying the results. I'm trying to get better results with the 'posterize' feature, but my images still just look like pictures so I'm not quite satisifed with that aspect just yet.
