Though it seems to have a monopoly / mass market share in the vector graphic sector, I can find few reasons to complain.

Not many days go by that I do not use Illustrator. It's a very powerful tool that has much more versatility than the average user may know. I spend a lot of free time experimenting and learning about all the different ways to use each tool. Not many of the tools are limited to one use.

If I had to give away every program besides one, illustrator would definitely be my pick. Someone can bring me an idea and I can have it put into shape within minutes. I enjoy how the illustrator program has progressed over the years. Live Trace/Live Paint editions in the CS2 version were simply amazing in my opinion, and CS3 continues to amaze.

This is a great program to create smooth vector based graphics. A little tricky at first if you're used to programs like photoshop and paint shop pro. But once you get the hang of things it really can be used well.

This version of Illustrator CS is a big improvement over the last version as far as work flow is concerned. All the tools are docked so you don't have to deal with floating sections getting in the way of work. My only complaint is that it seems buggy when I'm using something like the star drawing tool and I try to add points by pressing up or down (worked in past versions) the program locks up or adds 10 points when I just want one. Anyway other than that it's great I just have to do some things the long way.

I love to use Illustrator except for the fact that I don't find it as easy to use when you're first learning how to set up gradients and working with colors on the pallete. There might be some work to do for the developers in that area, otherwise, I've had a blast with this program and HIGHLY recommend it to any Graphic Artist!

I use to hate Illustrator becasue I had a class at school and we had to lear how to use the "dreaded" pen tool to complete the entire project. After I completed the lable recreation project I was in love with the pen tool. You will probably notice that if you look at some of the pieces that I have posted.

As I have said before, the Adobe Suite of software is a solid tool for an any digital aritst's arsenal! I can't say how much has improved in Illustrator from the last two versions, but prior to CS3 version I was working with version 10. And I must say, the differnces are very noticeable. Files intergrate smoother between the other Suite programs, and some of the tools have been seriouusly upgraded to be more user friendly. Especially the anchopr point handles. They enlarge now, when you get near them with the pointer, so you are no longer going blind searching for those pesky little points.
You can also do so much more now with brush patterns and filters! It was and is the best vector based graphic design software out there for the money!- Flag as inappropriate

This is THE software to have if you love to draw. There are other products out there that are free, such as Inkscape, but they wont give you all of the bells and whistles Illustrator will give you. Plus, it plays nicely with Photoshop. If you have both of these products, you will be a force to be reckoned with. Buy it if you really love to draw :).
