This non-abrasive "dry" material is used in restoration in curatorial & archival work to clean old manuscripts, prints, paintings, books, tapestry, and ephemera. It's useful in rejuvenating older works, those soiled in handling, and removing age & dust soiling from delicate surfaces evenly and without damage or scuffing by simply supporting the entire surface from behind and lightly rolling a ball of this in one direction over the whole surface. Any crumbs or particles can be gently brushed away It's also useful (and saves resources) for cleaning paper stock that has become dust/age soiled during storage – particularly edges of opened reams and pads.
[I've never had a issue of it's harming any work, but not being an expert, I would caution anyone to research best practices before going at a priceless art object!]
This product is made of "Vulcanized" natural rubber and is non-toxic (but a person's latex sensitivity may apply). An MSDS is available for download from the company. They might be the best source of a photo, also (copyright and all that.)
