The D80 is everything I need in a camera. Upgrading from the D70s, I was a bit weary of previous reviews stating the D80 had issues with exposure.
The first 30 shots I put the meter to the test shooting high contrast and low contrast shots. I put the SB800 on top of it and BAM! it was like magic.
The D80's menu and navigation tools are placed close enough to make adjustments on the go but far enough away as not to bump accidentally.
I'm extremely happy with my D80!

I just purchased this camera, and it's excellent for what I use.
Be aware, however, that many of the zoom lenses usually attached to the camera in most sales will not do well in low-light situations without a flash. I bought a 50mm 1.4 that seems to work for the most part where the zoom lens will not.

Was a Canon and Sony user until the Nikon D80. Specifically: the D80 isn't flimsy nor is it too bulky; the viewing screen is a perfect size for me, the easy to use menu system is a plus, and finally, the images are outstanding. By the way, if you are interested in purchasing one of these cameras, try to get the kit. I'm from Rhode Island and have seen it featured in flyers for $800 or so.

Any Nikon camera is great, but this one is my favorite. I've used it on many occasions and it has never let me down. If your really into photography, then I recommend this camera.

I upgraded from the D50 to the D80 at the beginning of 2008. Both cameras sre amazing. I did not know I was able to take such professional looking shots. It came with the 18-135mm lens and I also bought the 70-300mm VR. The VR has helped me to get better shots of wildlife and of my dogs at play. I have not expolred the many different settings the D80 has available because the point and shoot capability has worked so very well. I would reccommend this model to anyone who wants to take professional looking pictures at an affordable price. (The price drop happened a month after I purchased mine)

I find that the Nikon D80 provides me with everything a camera should and can do. I will not go back only to upgrade when I see a Nikon that is better in this price range. Actually the 200 verses the 80 and the 80 was best for clarity. Love It! Rick

I have had this camera for a year now. It has gotten me through all of my photography classes and two landscape trips. It does everything that I need it for plus more!

The D80 is a really good sound camera. It takes a bit to get used to it but once you get it you really get it. Auto focus gets me frustrated at times. It is also a bit heavy after a long day. It is a nice sturdy camera though and lets me be as creative as I want or just on auto it also is great. It has really expanded my tool box.
