I generally use the black board with black core to do prismacolor stix illustrations. Also use it with chalk. It's very smooth so choose something else if you want texture. Surface is very durable. Great for location drawings.

The white board is very versatile. I have used it for ink drawings, pencil drawings, marker drawings, and acrylic paintings. You can cut it to any dimentions you need. And the board stands up better than paper does. Very fun to use and it produces great results.

I use white crescent matte board with black core on all my B&W Photo prints...It is very distinguished looking and professional in appearance as well as time-tested wearability! I have not found anything to compare it to that stands the test.
