The Wacom BAMBOO has to be one of the best tablets for a beginner. the entire drawing surface covers the computer screen, no matter the size, and it utilizes pressure in the strokes, creating a perfectly realistic stroke as if it were in ink.
A great paper saver and well worth getting!! It's also an excellent first tablet because of it's simple user interface and easy programmability.

Well worth investing in, especially for beginers in graphic design, or any artist thinking of going digital. It is very affordable and gives you the benifits of any tablet. there is two buttons on the pen, four on the tablet, and a scrolling and zooming pad as well. The tablet is pressure sensitive and magnetic. you can hold it anyway you wish, giving you a much more natural feel no matter what you use if for. and in photoshop, if you flip the pen around, it automaticly turns into an eraser. it isnt perfect tho because it doesnt actually have its own screen. but i can afford that. and the average price of this is actually $80

Wacom has consistently provided the best tablets I've tested, and the Bamboo hasn't disappointed me so far. The interface makes the pen easy to use outside of rendering programs (in lieu of a mouse). I would prefer that the pen holder be on the side or top of the tablet to keep it all in one place, but I haven't encountered any technical or software issues. I'm very happy with its performance; great for amateurs or tight budgets.

I use the Bamboo Fun tablet and it's a dream. Trying to design without it is like trying to tell Picaso to paint without a brush.

This is the first tablet i've used, and i'm loving it. It's much faster than a mouse, easy to draw and navigate with. Setup is quick and simple. And it also works well with all of my software.

The Wacom Bamboo Tablet has become an indispensable tool & it's difficult to imagine using Photoshop, CorelDraw, Painter, and Paint Shop Pro without it. It felt awkward at first, but it became intuitive and easy to use shortly thereafter. The Wacom tablet is very fluid and responsive. Beginning, intermediate, and advanced digital artists should add this to their toolset--I'm glad I did.

I have it and I find it ok for my needs as a starter digital artist. A wacom tablet and an affordable software will make you wish for more, but the tow of them work well.

Drawing with your eyes at the monitor, away from the tip of your pen takes a while to get used to.

Love it. It's my second Wacom tablet and is much better than older 4x6 tablets. responsive and fits in my laptop bag. Removable usb cable allows it to be transported without damaging the cable. Seems to have some issues with snow leopard, but nothing that should not buy this tablet.
