Prior to starting ArtBistro, Valerie lived and worked as an artist in New York City for ten years. Her work has been shown at New York galleries and museums and been reviewed in publications such as The New York Times. Valerie taught art for eight years part-time at Grace Church School and most recently at Brigham Young University. She has collaborated on a number of commercial enterprises with composers, designers, writers, photographers, and dancers. Gulnara Kasmalieva and Muratbek Djumaliev: “A New Silk Road”
Winkleman Gallery
Edward Winkleman was in the gallery and gave me a delightful tour of this work. It is photographs and videos of the traffic on the Silk Road. It shows the people in Kyrgyzstan who make their living on this ancient trade corridor. He has been there himself and told me how his experience of being a tourist and a guest was so different from the harsh realities of life presented in this artwork.

Thanx for the show Valerie.......The piece that really effects me and i caint get enough is Joan Mitchells work, it brings back the best of the New York art scene of the 50's and 60's. U hit the nail on the head with this pic!

Thanks for the walk Valerie, it's fun to see other galleries without having to leave my warm house....although i'm sure the work is 100% better in person, hey it's the next best thing to being there.....great job and bet you had fun....

Glad you had, or are having, a nice trip to town. I can highly recommend Nathalie Djurberg's show to anyone having trouble keeping on a diet during the holidays. It's a super appetite suppressant.
