Francesca Gabbiani: “Be My Mirror”

Sara Meltzer Gallery

Gabbiani makes cut paper assemblages of frames with fanciful flora and fauna. They are organic and flowing. I picked the one with the octopus in it to show you. it seemed to have a conceptual element of danger and beauty that the others did not. They are quite skillfully done. There were some small collages incorporating baroque etchings and applied elements that I liked almost better than the large ones.

Thanks for the walkthrough! I don't get to NY, so it's great to see some samples although it's always better in person.

Glad you had, or are having, a nice trip to town. I can highly recommend Nathalie Djurberg's show to anyone having trouble keeping on a diet during the holidays. It's a super appetite suppressant.
