Cecilia Cassini of Encino is a fashionista with a famous designer’s name, the style and attitude to go with haute couture — and she’s all of 10 years old and in the fifth grade.
She also has a big mane of beautiful hair and the cuteness that could make any young girl aspire to the life of a model. Instead she wants to design and sew their clothes.
“I have known that I wanted to be a fashion designer from the second I was born,” said Cecilia, who today will have her own trunk show at a Sherman Oaks boutique and display more than 200 one-of-a-kind items that she has personally designed and sewn — all with the environment in mind.
“I also care about saving the planet, and I think I can help by repurposing old clothing into new masterpieces,” said Cecilia, who is no relation to famed designer Oleg Cassini but knows her fashion history.
“I don’t want to wait until I’m an adult like Coco Chanel to start creating my masterpieces,” she added.
She may not have to.
Cecilia has made clothing for the children of several celebrities, among them actresses Denise Richards and Candace Cameron Bure.
