About Me: You don't want to know about me. I'm boring as hell. .................................................................... I share a birthday with Buddha, Julian Lennon, Yip Harburg, and Alfred Cheney Johnston, the official Ziegfeld Follies photographer. .................................................................... I'm a brain tumor survivor. I'm in love with Mary Steenburgen. I skipped third grade and that was the year they taught multiplication and division. .................................................................... I don't own a TV. I listen to vintage jazz: Jelly Roll Morton, Django Reinhart, Illinois Jacquet, Louis Jordan, et. al. I think Artie Shaw was a genius. I got hit by a car when I was seven. .................................................................... I just got turned down for Disability and have to appeal. Despite my being in chronic pain, they say I'm well enough to work. That's the guvmint fer ya. .................................................................... My all-time favorite Rock Band is Moby Grape. I refuse to ride roller coasters, I'm already dizzy enough. .................................................................... I collect old postcards that have pictures of state attractions inside the lettering. I was sad when I heard Wally Wood died - I cried when I found out he'd taken his own life. .................................................................... Under this curmudgeonly exterior is a big old mushy romantic. Sniff. .................................................................... Everything I studied in school is obsolete, so I'm back to being self-taught. .................................................................... I have three brilliant sons, all six-footers. My ex-wife insisted over my objections that they'd be home-schooled. Come to think of it, she did everything over my objections. I must have been a terrible husband: I was totally intolerant of her promiscuity and when her lovers came to the house I was very rude to them. .................................................................... I've been working in Adobe Illustrator since the whole program fit on a floppy disk. I toiled anonymously in the screenprinted sportswear industry for fifteen years. After 9-11 I couldn't get an art job to save my soul. And yet everybody raves about my work. Hmm. .................................................................... I live in Lawrence Kansas, a mecca for starving artists and musicians. Stan Herd and Steven Johnson live here too, so some of us are not-so-starving. William Burroughs spent the last decade of his life here. It's the hometown of Sara Paretsky too. .................................................................... In exchange for promotional work I was given a Mac Mini with a 40-gb memory. Unfortunately although I've installed System 9 several times it doesn't recognize it, can't find it, so my old Photoshop 5.5 is locked away somewhere where I can't get to it. Wouldn't I love to be able to buy the upgrade! So I'm doing an awful lot of elaborate, time-consuming workarounds until God in Her Wisdom intervenes. ....................................................................
