About Me: ARTIST STATEMENT: My goal as a portrait artist has been to show something deeper than just a human or animal likeness but to reveal life, living, and breathing even thinking. To capture life where you expect the head to turn, eyes to blink or the hand to gesture. ------------------------------------------------------------------- History ------- Art has been my life for as far back as I can remember. I have no formal art education. Immediately after high school (1972) I was offered a job as illustrator and designer with a small studio (ART Enterprise), which I was overjoyed to land. Working with the small studio provided excellent on-the-job training in all areas of commercial art and advertising. After about 5 years with ART Enterprise I went freelance and have remained a freelancer for most of my art career. For a short time I worked for a local television station (WCCO) as artist, illustrator, on air graphics and courtroom illustrator. Illustrating in the courtroom setting was an excellent, very intense training ground for fast live model drawing. I was very proud of my courtroom artwork even winning a number of national awards for it. Today my work focuses more on fine art with some fantasy art as well. My current art market place includes various Renaissance festivals around the country as well as my website Legendary Creations. ------- Art Style and Mediums ------- I love working in all mediums though pencil and pastel are current favorites. For subject matter people and animals have always been my passion but I also enjoy landscapes. Regarding styles of art almost everything appeals to me, so as a result my portfolio contains a little something of everything. My immediate goal is to delve into some of the computer arts software and techniques. ------- Other areas of work and interest ------- Greyhound rescue, helping to raise awareness for the thousands of retired Greyhounds each year that need loving, forever homes. ------- Professional sleight-of-hand artist (close-up magician) for 35+ years. Resident close-up magician for the Excalibur Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV from 1999-2001 ------- 5th Degree Black Belt in American Martial Arts, 12 World Championships, 32 International Championships and Grand Championship titles. Owner and instructor of an award winning martial arts school in Minnesota from 1989 –1999
