- About Me
- About the Author & Artist. Arlene Wright-Correll (1935- ___), popular American award winning Artist, published author, columnist, & art instructor, at the age of 68, decided to pick up her paint brushes again after 54 years and paint, in mostly gouache watercolors and pastels, the flowers, herbs and fruits that grow at Home Farm Herbery in Munfordville, KY. Though she paints in all mediums, she likes to use the Gouache paints, which are a heavy, opaque watercolor paint, sometimes called body color, producing a less wet-appearing and more strongly colored picture than ordinary watercolor. Occasionally, she will paint something from her world travels especially of Scotland, Ireland, or the Mediterranean. She is fond of those old memories. She is the resident artist and workshop instructor at Avalon Stained Glass School. She is a Certified EBSQ artist. Ms. Wright-Correll is the creator and writer of Who’s Who in Arts and Crafts©, author of numerous published books, over 300 published articles, winner of many organic gardening writing contests and a member of KAHT. She is also a China & Porcelain painter, Stained Glass Artisan, Sandblasting and glass etching artist, works in Fused Glass and Encaustic Art. She is one of the six KY Artists who worked 6 months to create the dolls for Journey Jots in 2006. Exhibitions: 2009 APW Postcard Exhibition New York “One Picture is Worth a 1000 Words” 2009 North Light Cover Competition 2009 NeoPopRealismStarz Competition New York 2009 Miami Basel Competition 2008 & 2009 OvationTV art exhibition 2008 Smithsonian Institute Art Exhibition “Between Fences”, 2008 The Artist’s Magazine's 2008 All-Media Online Competition 2009, 2008 & 2007 Women in the Arts, Bowling Green, KY, 2009, 2008 & 2007 USBank annual Celebration of the Arts, (2009 1st Place winner in watercolors) 2009, 2008 & 2007 South Central KY Cultural Center, Glasgow KY, 2008 & 2007 Fine Arts winner KY State Fair, 2008 winner of 4 ribbons Hart County Fair, 2007 The Pastel Journal’s 9th Annual Pastel 100 2006 Artist of the Month, Horse Cave Book Store, May 2005, 1st place winner Salis International, Colorado Springs, Hydras Watercolors. She has studied Vitri-Fusaille” with award winning artists Peter McGrain and watercolors with Jef Dirig. Her original paintings are sold quite quickly and one can always try and pick up whatever current one she is working on. The amazing thing about this "young" artist is that as a mother of 5 & the grandmother of 5, she is also a cancer and stroke survivor who is able to strive forward each and everyday to welcome the beauty of this small planet. . Her books can be found on http://www.lulu.com/kate1031 and her art at http://www.learn-america.com/the-art-work-of-arlene-wright-correll/ email askarlene@scrtc.com All Ms. Wright-Correll’s royalties from all her creative works go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Hey it was a day of cleaning out the stained glass warehouse, working on the German Shepard, putting some ads on the internet, waking up to a beautiful blue sky day...not necessarily in that order. And I thank everyone for the wonderful comments. Arlene Wright-Correll

It is raining cats and dogs here...(Do you know that when people had thatched roofs the animals used to walk around on them and when the thatching gave out the cats and dogs would fall through into the dwelling... hence the statement.. raining cats and dogs!)
At any rate its a good day for drawing, painting or whatever one does on this type of day and having soup for lunch..plus its a good day for being above ground.
"Tread the Earth Lightly" and in the meantime... may your day be filled with... Peace, light and love,

Getting ready for the Hart County Fair.. A wonderful little country fair where we get to see all the wonderful things our residents do. The heat has finally abated here and we are getting cool evenings and early mornings. Working on a painting and various other stuff and got our first cucumbers from our garden which consists of 99% flowers and 1% cucumbers and tomatoes.
Have a safe 4th of July and remember what this country is all about.
