About Me
Have always been interested in pen and ink. Am mostly self taught with a few stints here and there in art schools,the most name worthy being Ontario College of Art. There's quite a range of talent and interest on this amazing site,sublime to curious with a strong sub current of those in the know. If one is strong and determined this place is a gold mine of info and instruction. What ever our capabilities or understandings and ambitions we all stand to learn and grow from being here. For those of you who have made friends with me here and are interested in who and what I am about it is necessary to know that like so many of us here have been interested in drawing from a very early age. My interest picked up when arriving in Canada from Ireland at the age of 10 and not having any idea how to deal with the "new" culture of Montreal,Quebec. I was so lost in class that doodling became a habit to pass the time and beat boredom. It brought a bit of attention which wasn't unpleasant and set of a life long pursuit. It didn't occur to me then nor even now that this was to be my chosen field. It wasn't,for a fact as I worked for one company for nearly 33 years. The only other thing in my life that went longer than that was my marriage to Elaine,my lovely wife of 37 years. She passed away 3 years ago in June and I retired 6 months later. Needless to say this was a very difficult time for me ,I wasn't sure how I would get through it but mercifully there was my drawings, they had never been sorted,organized or anything like that so when I retired someone suggested that I buy a computer and get to work. That's what I did and am currently doing now hence the large number of works being uploaded. I know they aren't all good or worthy of every ones attention but by placing them here I am able to see the larger picture and determine where I should go with it. I am not seeking work,not pressured to do this or that only do new work and learn about the craft by sharing and receiving information on this site. To date I can not express in words how great it is to be on here,it so much about change and growth and I sincerely hope that I will get to know many of you in the coming months and that you will not hesitate to tell me what you think of my work,the good,the bad and the ugly. I thank all of you who have so far taken the time to look at my work and promise as I have been doing so far to pay careful attention to you and your work too.
