- Bill Cormalis Jr. is a self taught artist out of Los Angeles Ca. Bill started drawing at an early age, everything from animals to Star Wars battle scenes. In his formidable years, being a skateboarder opened his eyes to an entirely different realm of creativity. With exposure from the pages of skate magazines, the influence of artist Jim Phillips, and his brightly colored, detailed graphics for Santa Cruz , to the random creativity of Vision pro/ artist Mark Gonzalez, began to rub off on Bill. He began to experiment with painting, doing grip tape art, and making stencils. Growing up in a musical family, music is also a major influence, and subject in many of his artworks. The work of Picasso, Van Gogh, Stuart Davis, James Castle, Klee and Rembrandt, inspire the diverse nature of Bills work, from creating Collages and Assemblages, to painting Portraits. He has participated in local festivals and various group shows throughout Los Angeles, Orange County and San Bernardino County. Bill was a Featured Artist at the "Weapons of Mainstream Destruction" show at the Zeem Haven, located in The Downtown Pomona Arts District, July 2008. In October 2008, Bill participated in the MusicShare Benefit, which raises money to aid musical artists in need. Notables such as, Shepard Fairey, Slash, Mark Mothersbaugh, Lemmy Kilmeister also had pieces in the show. He has shown at SK Visuals, Hangar 1018, The Grind Gallery, Infusions Gallery, The Light Gallery. In 2005 and 2006 Bill was commissioned to design and produce murals funded by the FDA and USDA for the "Eat Five a Day" campaign for healthy, and active youths. The murals were painted at various schools in his hometown of Monrovia Ca. One of the murals being painted at his former elementary school. Bill has been a Commercial Artist since 2004. His experiences as a Commercial Artist range from Sandblasted Redwood signs ( Fabricating sign blanks, Sandblasting, Hand Painted Murals, Painting, and Gold Leaf), Silkscreen, Stencil Graphics, to Graphic Installations 60 feet in the air on a boom lift. Bill owns and operates beecee design co. where he and his team, design logos, manufacture and install graphics ( Non Electric and Electric Signs, Murals, Digital/Vinyl Vehicle Graphics, Window Graphics, Dimensional Lettering), Printed Products( Digital prints, Business cards, Brochures, Magazine Ads), Skateboard, and T-shirt graphics.
