About Me
Constance Faith Koehler, known as Connie, is an amazing woman blessed with a natural talent to create, whether using an artist’s brush, a pen, a pencil, or a camera. Connie has drawn and created things all through her life but it was not until adulthood that she has blossomed as an artist. No one, not even she, realized or appreciated her talent at an early age, even after an ink and crayon piece she created in first grade called, "The Gumdrop Tree", that was put on the front cover of the school journal. She was born in Gadsden, Alabama, in 1958, where she attended first grade with her twin brother. After first grade, Connie and her family moved to Florida where she has lived most of her life. She has lived in Vero Beach for over thirty years. She has three brothers and a younger sister. Her twin and she are the oldest of five siblings. Her sister died in 2004 in the same bedroom her dad died in, two years prior in 2002. Before they died, they saw Connie’s art and her many talents. They were extremely proud of her. Connie has two wonderful children both boys who have given her grandchildren. So far, she has a grandson and a granddaughter. Her children are proud of her as well. They look up to her and are happy of all her accomplishments. In 1996, Connie painted a small painting and began to show it to others. The creativity and artistic expression in this small painting helped her family and friends realize she had a natural talent that deserved nurturing and developing. They encouraged her to take art and painting lessons, and those lessons have helped her to grow as an artist and to develop her own style and vision, which shines in all her artwork. With a number of well-received paintings and drawings in her portfolio, she now sells and donates her art to worthy causes. Connie is filled with compassion not only for others, but for herself as well. Though Connie has other talents, such as writing poetry, writing fantasy short stories, writing plays, writing music, playing the guitar, dancing, and more, she says painting and drawing are her first loves as outlets for her talents. She gives thanks to a higher power, God, for the gifts bestowed upon her because they are what gave her confidence in herself. Her artistic endeavors have allowed doors to open, her circle of friends to become ever widening and her low self-esteem boosted into a higher self-esteem. Because of these talents, and the encouragement of loved ones, Connie went back to school, received her GED Diploma, and now attends a two-year college where she will soon receive an A.S. Degree in Graphic Design Technology. She graduated a class in The Office Skills Technology Program and you can usually find her assisting others to use technology in the College labs. Connie and her siblings have been through many trials and tribulations while growing up. This is partly why Connie had a low self-esteem and dropped out of school. She reached out for help and overcame the dysfunctional life she knew. Connie's message to others: I remember not liking me; I remember feeling as though no one loved me. In my adulthood, I learned that my parents did love me, but they were a product of their environment and for this, they could only raise me the best they knew how, which unfortunately, gave me a poor imagery of myself and I believed everyone was better than me in many areas. I remember a friend of mine drew very well and I found it quite amazing how lines and color formed a picture. Art has always been something I have admired, but did not think I could ever do though I did do it. Of course, I learned to compare myself with others and always found others better than mine instead of finding mine just as well as others. The truth is our styles were and are different and we are each unique. Now that I know better, I see the beauty and warmth in all my paintings, drawings, music, and other things I create. If I can create beautiful art then I feel anyone can and it does not have to be in the form of drawing or painting. There is an art in being a good listener as well as making people laugh, there is an art in having great ideas, and the list goes on. This is something I truly believe, God gave each of us gifts, talents. Please take my word for it. Believe in yourself, find something you like to do, and then go for it. Be thankful for what you have, and DO NOT limit yourself in achieving what you do not have. Remember that by giving, you receive, by loving, you are loved, and being loved is one of God’s greatest gifts. Connie has fought Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Large B Cell cancer in 2006, and 2007. With God’s help, the support of her family and friends, that battle has been won; the cancer is gone.

"Very nice. To me, though I haven't used them much, watercolors are HARD. You do very well with them. I may if I practice, though I'm not sure. ..."
