- About Me
- My past actions have caused a lot of discord. And if they ever come back to me, I welcome every one. I don't want my ignorance floating around for others to stumble over. But when my past ignorance returns, I hope that it brings with it wisdom. In my recent work I am exploring the relationship between artistic narrative and the principals of art. Throughout my collection of subjective event drawings, the common theme of swashbuckling heroics has emerged from the backdrop of rising empires through the simple process of applying materials to a surface. To begin a drawing, I must break ground and remain committed in my ambition, laying down a rudimentary drawing structure of basic lines, shapes, and color washes. Some lines and shapes make the cut while others are painted over, erased, or in some works, physically torn from the drawing entirely to encourage transformation within the two-dimensional epic. The changes that the surface undergoes can be drastic at times and subtle at others, yet the results are the same, progressing figuratively from a small fishing village into a bustling shipping center over the course of a specific work’s drawing history. This drawing process also speaks to my nature, though I am not necessarily heroic or cut from particularly adventurous stock, I appreciate the uncertainty of straying far from my routines to discover intriguing ideas and fresh material for the making.
