Personal

About Me: I am a Rockford, Illinois native who has been drawing and painting since 1969. I have worked in a variety of subject matter and media. I graduated with a B.A. in Fine Art in 1973 from Rockford College, where I studied painting and drawing under the tutelage of Robert McCauley, sculpture with Hon Ching Lee and Art History with Phillip Dedrick. I was married in 1978 and moved to San Diego in 1981 to pursue a career as a graphic designer and illustrator. While in San Diego, I continued to paint, inspired by the beauty of the ocean and shoreline. After earning a graphic arts certificate from Platt College in San Diego, I began working as a graphic designer at a publishing company in San Diego. In 1986 our daughter was born. Less than a year later we moved back to Rockford to be closer to family. In 1987, I began working for a publishing company in Rockford doing darkroom work and eventually graphic design and illustration. Since coming back to Rockford, I have been a member of the Rockford Art Guild and participated in many workshops and shows. I have been in the Rockford Artist’s Fair and the Winnebago County Fair Art exhibit, where I have won a few ribbons over the years for my watercolor and acrylic landscape paintings. I have also shown and sold my art at the Holiday Art Festival to benefit the Rock River Valley Food Pantry for several years. The last few years, I have been a contributing artist for the Unforgettable Art Event to benefit the Alzheimers Association. With visits to the Southwest and Southeast US, I have been motivated to paint the beauty of nature in those areas of the country as well as in the Midwest. I strive to continue to paint with passion, the beauty that God has given us to enjoy while on this earth. My hope is that those that view my art would enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed creating it.

I like purples, reds and blues the most I guess. I don't know why but a lot of my paintings feature at least one of these colors.
