I got 4 questions correct. This will only encourage me to do some research on Picasso. He is still one of my favorite artists of all time. I admire his daughter Paloma who is a jewelry designer.

I got 5 wrong and they say I'm an expert? I used to be into Picasso, now I'm into Dr. Albert Coombs Barnes. The darkest chapter in world cultural history since the Holocaust is unfolding in Philadelphia as we speak. Comcast, Pew Trusts, the Annenberg foundation and a bunch of cultural blockheads are tearing the heart, the art, out of a specially designed golden age renaissance Mansion, garden and arboretum to make a tourist attraction in sterile, congested Center City. The Barnes is the most serene, sane and soulful place to view art in the world. Built in the same year that T.S. Eliot's Wasteland was produced, The Barnes represents the height of American culture and is a mystical Rune of the Modern Era reaffirming the spirituality of Art and wonder in the face of the desensitization of America's Industrial Revolution. It is the only place where one may see 181 Renoirs, 56 Matisses, 13 Moldiglianis, 46 Picassos and 69 cutting edge Cezannes (who Picasso referred to as his mother). Vollard called The Barnes the greatest Post-Impressionist collection in the world. A National Historic Landmark, The Barnes is Modern Poetry done completely in images. Dr. Barnes left a will directing that nothing be moved from this new American cathedral. But Philly rich people think they know your culture better than you. That sucks. Keep The Barnes in Merion. STOP THE MOVE. Write your congressperson. See, Barnesfriends.org Artjail.org Barnesfoundation.org

Picasso left his estate to Jacqueline Roque, nevertheless it caused problems with Francois Gilot and the children, they contested the will, Roque commmitted suicide after ten years and the legacy of Picasso´s estate ended up in the hands of Gilot´s children. Dora Maar, commited suicide after his death and so did his son Pablo.

Ruiz was Picasso's father's name. He took his mother's name, Picasso, after leaving art school, thinking that his father would be ashamed of him.

I'm ashamed I didn't know more about him. Too bad it didn't have a question about his friendship with Ernest Hemingway...
