As a working professional with a BFA in Digital Media Design (same as New Media & Animation) I've can tell you that this degree is not for someone who wants to go into Web Development. Web Development and Web Design are very different fields. I am a Web Designer. I design User Interfaces, Flash Animations, Banner advertisements, and a variety of other web based instances. A Web Developer typically has a degree in Web Development or Web Programming and their job is to help write the infrastructure that larger sites use to manage content, help the website communicate with servers, and deal with very technical code. They write code and lots of it. Most designers despise writing code.
