Highest Budget Expansions by Percentage

Which are the states projected to most greatly expand their arts budgets from 2009 – 2010? We have the top ten below. It is interesting to see states like Missouri, Arkansas, North Dakota, and Texas ranking high on this list. There are some caveats though. The NASAA reports that Missouri took a mid-year cut in fiscal year 2009 of approximately 50%. The increase reflects a near restoration of those funds. And Minnesota’s 2010 appropriation includes $21.7 million in funds received through the newly enacted Legacy Amendment. Excluding these funds, the agency’s total appropriation in fiscal year 2010 of $8.6 million is a decrease of 15.9%.
