10 Fastest Growing Design Jobs

10 Fastest Growing Design Jobs

Valerie Atkisson / ArtBistro

The number of design jobs is expected to grow 10 percent in the next decade. As the demand for designers continues to increase from design firms, advertisers and publishers. Some of this increase is expected to stem from the expansion of the video entertainment market, including television, movies, video, and made-for-Internet outlets.

Combine the expected growth rate with the large number of vacancies that are expected to arise as more baby boomers retire and you realize that states and localities will be very busy with recruiting over the next decade.

I have been a graphic designer for 8 years. I was laid off at the beginning of the year.....now I am starting my own design studio. The biggest client at the old job is desperate to work directly with me....off to a good start! Being my own boss is actually great!!!!!!

You shouldn't choose a field solely based on its demand right now. Do what you love, do what you are best at or find a field that UTILIZES THE MOST of your SKILLS or TALENTS. This will only build on your foundation and make you the best at what you do.

I have been a graphic designer most of my life because its just what i'm good at. I am now branching into advertising and art direction. In the next five years, I plan to have my own marketing firm. The best field to be in during recession: ADVERTISING. Everyone needs to advertise, always.

Although I have just graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture, I have been looking for an architecture job for about eight months, and there is nothing! All my friends from school have been laid off, and the idea of continuing with a career in architecture looks rather grim. Careers in architecture are completely dependent on the economy, and the economy is not well right now. Please stop giving off the false impression that architectural design is a stable or lucrative career choice!!!
