What Skills Do You Need?
Look at the skills that you have and the skills that you will need to acquire to become the designer that you want to be. These skills will include leaning new software and principles of good design such as: color, spatial relationships, and typography. It will also be helpful to you to know about the history and theory associated with design.
Consider Non-Design Skills
You may decide that you need a broad based set of artistic skills rather than a narrow set. For any design professional, good writing skills are a must. Other skills/classes that come in handy especially if you're interested in a freelance career would be: Business, Communication, Accounting, and Advertising.

Good Advice! While you might not use drawing or illustrative skills as a graphic designer (for example) I believe it is important to still have some knowledge and abilities in other creative areas. I do not sketch or draw regularly, but if it is necessary I can. In a creative environment you never know what skills you may need to get the job done.

i think what all you say is true but, from my side i think if you want be good graphic design thier are somthing byond drawing and coloring . it is the concept of what you design and this may take the most time from you to decide what you will make and how you will make not problem bcz the all know how but not know what they should make occourding to the concepts . thank you

And... (thanks by the way) it would be a great idea for people who deal with text to brush up on basic English grammar. You can break the rules in some fun and interesting ways after you know what rules you're breaking. But if you don't....

This is good information and direction. The letter "r" was left out of the word "learning" in the second sentence of the paragraph.
