The most beautiful small city in the U.S., San Francisco continually surprises photographers.

Local pro Thomas Hawk recently compiled a list of his favorite spots in the city and called it “infinitely visual” because its vast variety of “micro neighborhoods” contain extremely distinct residents, buildings, and nature spots. The blue-collar, multihued Latino Mission neighborhood looks and feels completely different from the sharp edges of Downtown, which in turn differs from the natural beauty of Presidio National Park. All this and more is available in a quirky 7×7-square-mile package.

The famous sites are world-renowned: the majesty of the Golden Gate Bridge, the gloomy atmosphere and isolation of Alcatraz, and the still stunning-and-running cable car strewn hills are must-shoots. But they’re really only the start of your adventure.
