Description: Just as a relationship may be built between people, so may a relationship be built between an individual and a space. As will any person, a space will begin to reveal itself to an individual the more time he/she spends getting to know it. As Nesbit spends time with a specific space, He takes the opportunity to sift through its layers of information as they are unfolded to him. He processes nearly all that is tactile, yet strains to make himself aware of the spiritual information that the space contains. To empathize with this spiritual sediment in a specific space is the intent of his investigation. The materialization of the space that is realized in this show, is meant to create an experience for the viewer similar to that of Nesbit’s. The minimal amount of visual information that his work offers the viewer, roughly equates to the minimal amount of spiritual information that Nesbit experiences with his artistic endeavor. Thus, the viewer is left to cognitively piece together the missing segments on her own. Like the above parallel, this struggle with the process of spatial reconstruction equates and parallels Nesbit’s struggle to sort out ephemeral evidence within his own experience of the represented mass. Nesbit’s process is justified with his honest statement of purpose: “As I build a relationship with these physical attributes, I am brought closer to my end goal: the possible strengthening of my relationship with God.”
